Moments

Unpublished | 2025

It doesn't take a year

it doesn't take a day,

not a minute or a decade

or a century unlived.

It only takes a moment.

So say it.

You say it to your mother.

You say it to your father.

To the woman in heels walking the boulevard.

To the boy in his underwear on a billboard.

You say it on the night you cease to be innocent,

and in the morning when you learn a heart can break.

It only takes a moment.

So say it.

Say it in the wind.

Say it in the shower.

Say it in traffic.

Say it on the hour.

Say it as they look at you,

eyes wild with wonder.

Say it til the words trail off into the distance.

Say it as you shift, like clouds

colliding and drifting.

It only takes a moment

not a year, not a day,

not a minute or a decade

or a century unlived.

It only takes a moment.

So say it.

Say it to yourself.

"I love you."

Now, was that so difficult?
